The Western Bluebill (Spermophaga haematina) is a common species of Estrildid finch found in Africa also referred to as Red-breasted Bluebill, Crimson-breasted Bluebill, Gabon Bluebill, Red-breasted Forest Weaver, Blue-billed Weaver, Blue-billed Waxbill.
Geography: The Western Bluebill is found in vast areas across Africa such as; Angola, Benin, Cameroon, Central African Republic, the Republic of Congo, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo.

Sexing: The male of this species has a red tipped blue bill, and red flanks from the chin to the breast. The female has a blue bill with not as much red at the tip, and spots on her chest.
Breeding: The Western Bluebill is a common species of estrildid finch found in Africa. It has an estimated global extent of occurrence of 1,900,000 km. Their breeding seasons occurs Aug–Dec in Gambia, and nest-building in Jun and Sept–Nov in Liberia.
Diet: Mealworms, Classic Finch Seed, Australian Blend Goldenfeast Mineral Grit, Dried Egg Food, and insects. Their stout bills are perfectly suited to crack open the hard husks of many seeds but they also add a number of insects to their diet, for instance, arachnids and mealworms.
